All of her bass parts on the album—with the exception of maybe one note—are from the basic sessions. She did not have to go back and overdub; her bass parts when she played with Patty were perfect. The rhythm sections that are on the album are completely live, and with minimal editing for Patty. I think that’s why people like the album, too—there’s real, real force in the way those two women were playing. There’s no studio trickery. They played that way, and that’s the way we left it.
